How We Keep Our Prices So Low

We started this non-profit under the idea that access to mental health services needed to change, and that young people needed it to be fun as well as effective.

We use paraprofessionals (trained but not certified professionals) to work with the teens because studies have found that they are just as effective as master degree level professionals as long as they are supervised by a professional and as long as the adolescent is't at high risk (Montgomery et al. 2010). These paraprofessionals are much less expensive to employ and this keeps our program costs down.

We also know that teens, especially older teens need someone outside the family to mentor them, if they are to have best chance at mental health (Dubois and Silverthorn 2005). Family mentorship and guidance is very important, but teens enter a period of their lives where outside guidance is taken more seriously, and so having a trusted adult mentor can facilitate that need.

We strive to help our young clients to develop emotional intelligence, social frameworks, and a powerful sense of purpose and identity for the lowest possible cost and with the highest possible effectiveness. Toward these goals we rely on research backed methods, paraprofessionals who can get on the teens level, medieval themes to keep the teens engaged, and reward systems to maintain motivation.
